Justice Day on the Hill

Justice Day on the Hill is going virtual this year and is set for Wednesday, March 24th!  We are still working out all the details but wanted to give you information about what we have planned so far. TADP is partnering with Tennessee Conservatives Concerned about the Death Penalty (TNCC) for the day.

This year, we will offer two educational events that are open to the public and lawmakers, featuring National Coordinator of Conservatives Concerned about the Death Penalty’s Hannah Cox as well as Death Penalty Information Center’s (DPIC) Senior Director of Research and Special Projects Ngozi Ndulue.

Individuals who do not participate in other parts of Justice Day on the Hill are still welcomed and encouraged to participate in one or both of these educational events.

For those who will make visits to lawmakers, we will set up zoom appointments when possible and will provide other options to make sure your concerns about Tennessee’s death penalty are communicated to your respective policy makers.

Here is a tentative schedule for TADP Justice Day Events: All via Zoom

7:30 a.m. CT    Hannah Cox will speak about her work with Conservatives Concerned about the Death Penalty, what conservatives are saying, and how conservatives are pushing the work for repeal across the country.

8:45 a.m  CT     Advocacy Training led by TADP Director Stacy Rector.  This training is mandatory for those who plan to participate in meetings with lawmakers and will provide participants with the tools and messages to ensure those conversations have the most impact.

10:00 a.m. CT  Zoom meetings with lawmakers and other actions, including letter writing and phone calling.

12:00 Noon CT  DPIC’s Ngozi Ndulue will talk about the recent report, Enduring Injustice: the Persistence of Racial Discrimination in the U.S. Death Penalty, providing an in-depth look at the historical role that race has played in the death penalty as well as the pervasive role that racial discrimination continues to play in the death penalty system today.
